Updates!

Hey all! Daniel's sketches are now being uploaded every couple of days to the Sketchbook section of our gallery. Eric and I are having a meeting tonight to discuss our game plan for the new year. I am considering moving Antic up to February, and releasing The Triad #3 in March. The Triad #3 will be 28 pages long, and include a gallery of work from Antic and Triad concepts. The Triad #4 will end the Triad series (for now), and will have a preview of The Triad Arc: R.E.D.D. Kross. This series will lend a more human perspective to the universe. I will send out a post of our official dates once we get it figured out. Some pencils for The Triad #3 will be on the site in the next couple of days. The Triad #2 releases at the beginning of Jan.

P.S. We have a contact form on our contact page now, so it will be easier for everyone to get a hold of us. Your feedback is always appreciated.

Writer's Update

Things continue to move forward at G2. Along with Daniel's progress in the studio, Eric has finished up the script for R.E.D.D. Kross #1 and is starting on R.E.D.D. Kross #2! It will be a while before we see these in print, but they should be released in 2010. Personally I am excited to see more on the Antic project Daniel has been working on, as this is his own project and it's been some super-top-secret stuff, aside from his occasional sketch-work and a general synopsis. Check out the "Archer" sketch on the Sketchbook link! It should be really cool stuff with the new style Daniel is working to perfect! - EJG

Comic Con '09

Greetings from the Chicago Comc Con!

The con is going great. Ive already given out 100+ promotional pieces, and have made a lot of good connections. Since my arrival, ive generated some detailed art for our characters in the 1st book, and some concept art for the second, along with pages for Triad #2.

The Triad will be sold in Culture Shock in St. Peters, and i am meeting with about 7 other shops next week. I will be updating the website every week by Friday, so stay tuned for release locations and signing events as well as new gallery sections and character bios...

...we love feedback from those who have visited the site and/or read the book, so give us a shout!

Off To The Presses!!!

G2 is proud to announce that The Triad #1: B&W has been sent today to Ka-Blam Digital Printing (http://ka-blam.com/printing/index.php?page=Home) and will be ready for release within mere weeks! Can you say "RELEASE PARTY?"

But the last few weeks have not been all celebration. Daniel has been working night and day to wrap up the inks, lettering, and the amazing cover, now visible at www.G2comics.com. But despite the hard work, and after careful planning and plotting of the pages, we had determined, much to our chagrin, just before sending the pages to Ka-Blam that a crucial two-page spread was not going to fall on facing pages. Racking our brains, we finally came up with a plan that involved cutting a cool but non-crucial scene from what used to be page 6. (Of course, you can still find this scene in The Triad: Preview, and in The Triad: ASHCAN books.) Nonetheless, I think I've convinced Daniel to hang on to this excellent piece of art to use in a future book, or perhaps as a variant cover on #1 as things progress for us.

And delving into progress, the plan remains to continue to tell the story of The Triad, with Daniel beginning work on pencils for the full color Triad #2 this week in preparation for the WizardWorld Chicago Comic Con August 7th, 8th, and 9th. Upon completion of Triad #4, which is the final installment in the "Soul Saver's" story-line, we plan to re-release Triad #1 in full color to make the collection complete. I am sure we will be looking at adding some cool stuff to what could easily become our first "Director's Cut" book (perhaps a preview of Daniel Gracey's own Antic: The Chapters of Levith? We will let Daniel decide!)

And G2 is not planning to stop there. We have loads of stories to tell, including Redd Kross (from the pages of The Triad), and even Tales of the Triad giving a glimpse of the Angelus Elect that fought long before the time of Lysandra. There are also intentions for new ideas, such as Daniel's Antic; my cosmic superteam, The Collective; and 74, an updated look at time travel (though some of these are only in the development stages.) With all that work, G2 may need to find an extra artist to help out!

But we are not ready to start accepting resume's yet. I suppose I should let us get off the ground first, and we are definitely putting every effort into making The Triad a great book that is easily accessible to comic book fans. Daniel has even begun to meet with local St. Louis comic shops, and though many of the larger chains are loyal to mega-distributors, we hope to see our book in stores by September. We'll also be setting up on-line ordering options for #1 and the Preview!

Needless to say, we are thrilled to be on the verge of seeing our work in print, and in the hands of our fans. And thanks to Daniel's hard work, and our friends at Ka-Blam, we are witnessing our dream ready to take flight!

ComicCon Nostalgia

I've just reviewed some of Dan's most recent work on the Triad#1 and I must say, things are really coming along nicely. We're looking at sending the first issue to the printer on or around August 7, and hope to receive the copies back by mid-August. Meanwhile - Dan will be pushing hard at the Chicago Wizard World Comic Con 2009 - trying to earn some recognition for G2! And as well as I know Dan - I am sure he will be turning some heads and grabbing some attention!
G2's last convention was the Project ComicCon: St. Louis where Dan met with Dark Horse editor Randy Stradley. Prior to that, and well before we were officially G2 Comics, (though we had the idea solidified) we had attended the 2007 Chicago Wizard World Comic Con where we were able to meet and even share some beers with some of the comic industry's greatest minds including Mark Millar (Wanted/Superman: Red Son) and Peter Steigerwald (colorist:Fathom/Witchblade). We also had the opportunity to meet the late Michael Turner, one of the comic industry's most brilliant minds, co-creator of the popular Witchblade comic series and creator of the Fathom and Soulfire books. Michael Turner passed away on June 27, 2008 of complications from bone cancer. He was an inspiration to many comic book fanboys, myself and my esteemed artist included. Having met him only 10 months earlier, it touched me to learn of his death, and to this day I recall the way he held one of the comics I had handed him and looked at it for a moment before signing it, as if recalling the day he had pencilled the cover. He had even gone as far as to page through it. I remember my own excitement at having found something from my collection to give him pause. Now, over a year after his death, I still periodically look through my collection of Turner books and Turner covers and dream that one day I will be part of such a magnificent legacy. Not for some believed glory or fame, nor for the movie deal or to sign with a major label ... but to see my work as I believe Michael Turner had seen it that day he held my prized comic: his Dream in the hands of people who believed in his story.

So, What is the Triad???

Set to release just mere weeks from now, anticipation is electric among those who have been following the conception, development and many growing pains of the Triad #1. Some may have contributed their $2 for a signed copy of the seven-page Triad Preview, and for that we are grateful. Some readers may have even had a glance at one of the three original Triad #1 comics in "Family Circus" format... (sorry Dan, but graciously you have come far since that original version in all its 2 dimensional splendor -and it gave me a tremendous opportunity to fine tune the story telling!) If you're here, thanks for joining us on this crusade!
So, likely, if you are reading this, you saw the G2 Comics site on the back cover of the Preview. And you may be wondering, upon reading the last page of the teaser "What is the Triad?" I'm glad you asked.
To state the obvious, the Triad are angels. But you probably already know that. You've seen the cover art, the preview pages, the gallery. And you'll continue to see all sorts of angels throughout the 4 issue miniseries - from some of the traditional heroes like Gabriel and Michael, to some of the new age faves like Azrael and Uriel.
Essentially, the Triad are the best of the best. They might be the strongest, the purest, the most powerful, or the merely the best politician. (With nine different levels to the angelic hierarchy, these beings are no strangers to bureaucracy.) The Tridians (as they are called for convenience) are selected during the most crucial times in celestial history: you may recall the role of the Angel of Death in the Ten Plagues unleashed upon Egypt during Israel's captivity; or the role of Gabriel in bringing about the annunciation of the birth of Christ. I hope to pursue these stories as "Tales of the Triad" with Dan's support in the future.
But something big is brewing in the celestial realm, and it is time once again for the heavenly host to choose three winged warriors to usher in the dawn of a new age. All the major players will show up for the fight - Lucifer and his demonic Legion, the Four Horsemen of Hell, and even Death itself. Hope to see you there!
